5km – New Personal Best!

Inspite of the cold rain and wind today I managed a new personal best time (PB) of 27m 45s for a 5km run (Approx 3.1 miles). I pushed myself a little more than normal, not quite at the limit still, as I have only recently started running again following an injury.

Hopefully this is a good start to my half marathon training – I have 8 weeks left to train, so will be picking up the pace quite a bit now, doing 1 short, 1 medium and 1 long run per week, probably something like a fast 5km, slow 10km and slow 15km, tapering off to just the 10km in the last fortnight, finally down to just two short 5km runs in the last week. I’ll also be doing a ressonable amount of cross training, cycling to work once a week, along with the usual 2 hour kick boxing session, and of course daily stretching.
