The Counter Telemarketing-Script Script!

We’ve all had them – Your sunk into your favourite arm chair, zombied out, staring at what ever the BBC has decided to entertain you with, and the phone rings…You peel yourself off the chair, pick up the phone only to find its yet another unsolicited sales call offering you the much better value for double glazing, mobile phone contracts or legal insurance to cover you against slip ups you make whilst writing your blog.

As I see it, there are three solutions to this problem:

1) Don’t see it as a problem, consider each call an opportunity, see what they have to offer, enjoy the friendly chat and hey, you may well just find yourself a good deal for something you really do need!
(Could be costly, and some what time consuming)

2) Download and print the Counter-telemarketing-script-script (Yep, I typed script twice, its a script to counter the effects of a script, Ok?). This work of genius is offers the flip-side to a typical telemarketing call, enabling you to take control of the call, and have fun doing so – You could even turn this into a game! :o)

3) If you are in the UK, register your number with the UK Telephone preference service at http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/. This is a free service, which allows you to opt out of unsolicited sales and marketing calls to landline and mobile phones. No organisation is allowed to call anyone registered on the ‘TPS’ without consent.
