Regular Expressions Library
Whilst its always a shame to miss an opportunity to write a regular expression (we all love, and fully understand them…don’t we?), sometimes its handy to do a quick copy’n’paste. Have a look at http://regexlib.com – Probably covers most regular expression needs

Something Different…

If you read blogs, it’s likely you’ve seen a ‘Word Cloud’ which is a list of words commonly used in the blog, with the font size set proportionally to the number of time each word is used – Although rather geeky, they are actually quite an accurate and useful way of visually demonstrating the more popular topics.

Today I found Wordle, which is a website that allows you to enter either free text, or an ATOM feed URL from which it will generate rather cool looking word clouds. I gave it the URL of the ATOM feed for dotnetsi.blogspot.com (The blog you are reading now) and here is what I got…

Oh, and if your reading this scratching your head, wondering what on earth this is all about, you can be proud of the fact that you ain’t a geek! :o)

Pixel Museum

March 18, 2007

I cant remember how, but whilst browsing earlier today I happened across http://www.pixelmuseum.com/, decribing itself as “the first and only virtual museum”. It features work of150 or so top artists, including digital art (Such as Photoshop), Pixel art (Check this out if you havent seen pixel art before)! and traditional photography. I love the way this site is laid out – You click doors to enter and leave rooms, using the map should you get lost. As you ‘move around’ the museum there are signs along the way. This method actually work very well as a user interface. Do check it out.

Crazy New York Cycling Race

January 13, 2007

Check out this video of some guys having a cycle race through New York City – Some rather scary moments, although it does look like insane fun! Can’t say I’d recommend riding like this, but it is nice to see cyclists cutting up motorists for once, rather then the other way round! Watch out for the particularly nuts bit as they go through Broadway!

If you know of any other videos these guys have made, please post a comment and let me know. I wanna see em!

Amazing Rock Climbing Video

January 13, 2007

Could you climb 400 feet up a rock face? How about without any climbing gear? And in 4 min 25 seconds? Watch this…Amazing!

funkyzilla.com

December 8, 2006

Stuck for some Christmas present ideas? Check out www.funkyzilla.com – Certainly wont be to everyones taste, but I certainly managed to put a few ticks on my Christmas shopping list. (This isnt an ad by the way! I happened across this site by mistake, and thought they had some quite cool stuff!)

Well, this one impressed me – All in Flash, great animation and graphics, reminds me of the many platform games of the 1980s, particularly Prince of Persia, which I for one wasted far too many hours playing! Anyways, heres the game…

Thanks to dumpalink.com for use of the Flash file!

Kite Surfer?

January 17, 2006

I’m selling my 12 meter 2003 Wipika Wip Kite.

Hop across to the eBay auction and get bidding!

Although Alex Tew won’t be the first university student to come up with a way of making a little spare cash, he may just be the most successful. At 21, Alex has made himself a millionaire by selling pixels. Yup, Pixels! Alex’s site ‘www.milliondollarhomepage.com‘ is a rather colourful tapestry of advertisments, each one of which takes up a number of pixels on the sites home page.

Using the typical method of selling advertising where more space equals more money on a micro-scale, Alex has sold pretty much all the pixels, with the last 1000 selling for over $38k, which of course were auctioned on eBay!

All is not well though! As the site has gathered popularity via various media reports and Blog entries, the Company who host the site for Alex have noticed various DDOS (Distributed Denial Of Service) attacks originating from locations world wide. Damn those player haters! 🙂

I thought I’d give the free IPOD sites a go, just to see if they really are a scam or not (The free IPOD will be a bonus!).

I’ve signed up to:
